Download the Demo (Updated 7/24/11): http://www.mediafire.com/?aucd55tpywdldgw Demo Features: - 3 fully playable dungeons - All events leading up to the 3 dungeons I decided this will be the development thread for Fatories's and My hack, since it seems to be going places with future dungeon plans. Title: Re: Zelda Oracle of Ages Hack (By Me and Fatories) Post by: Lin on June 05, 2011, 10:16:04 AM We finished level 2. I put up a video of me playing level 2, and Fatories can edit the topic when he puts his up.
Title: Re: Zelda Oracle of Ages Hack (By Me and Fatories) Post by: Fatories on June 05, 2011, 07:14:11 PM I've added my version of level 2. In my video I have an updated version of our ROM, so there is none of the bugs found in Lin's video, enjoy.

One question: Are you planning on changing the final boss from Veran to Ganon or someone else? Title: Re: Zelda Oracle of Nature (By Me and Fatories) - Demo Released Post by: Fatories on July 23, 2011, 01:50:30 AM Lin and I have now released a demo for Oracle of Nature, read the topic for some info on it as well as to download it
Title: Re: Zelda Oracle of Nature (By Me and Fatories) - Demo Released Post by: Klavice on July 23, 2011, 10:01:13 PM Well, I hate to save state abuse, but having bad memories of game hacks in the past which were a little overkill with difficulty (Kaizo Mario World, I'm looking at you) I'll probably use Save States to ensure everything goes smoothly.
It's not that I'm a terrible Zelda player or anything. I've played nearly every Zelda game up to date minus the CDi games and Spirit Tracks and have beaten most of them. (Not 100%, I could never find all the rings in Ages/Seasons or the Heart Pieces in Majora's Mask) I never really consider using save states to be "cheap" or "cheating". Especially when it's a tough boss fight or level. In the third dungeon in the room with two of the rotating things, the one closer to the top of the room doesn't work, it's just the tiles on the floor. At the top of my head I don't know what you're talking about. Maybe you have an older demo or something, because it was fine when Fatories ran through it. Also, join the IRC: #ZOLE at irc.caffie.netIn the third dungeon in the room with two of the rotating things, the one closer to the top of the room doesn't work, it's just the tiles on the floor. Title: Re: Zelda Oracle of Nature (By Me and Fatories) - Demo Released (Updated 7/24/11) Post by: TwoFinger on November 02, 2011, 07:12:54 AM I was playing the one from this thread, got it a few days ago so I don't think it's an old version.
I'm more interested in quietly following (I've been following Oracle hacking since Jigglysaint's thread on romhacking.net) than discussion. I'm not to good at finding bugs or expressing my opinion on things so I probably won't participate in the IRC, though I may pop in every once and a while, and quietly read, to see if anything's being discussed. Great progress on ZOLE and this hack by the way, good to see the oracle games still being worked on. In the third dungeon in the room with two of the rotating things, the one closer to the top of the room doesn't work, it's just the tiles on the floor. This sounds like an intended puzzle that Lin and I did for level 3. The top turnstile isn't activated until you do something specific later in the dungeon. Think back to Pokemon Red. Aaall the way back to the third gym, and think of a cross, not 8-directional. ;)Title: Re: Zelda Oracle of Nature (By Me and Fatories) - Demo Released (Updated 7/24/11) Post by: LimeMaster92 on November 18, 2012, 01:49:24 PM Eh don't know if this is a bug or an emulator issue but after I got the second key in the mountain cave then saved the game crashed and vba 1.72 gave the following error message "Unknown opcode fc at 8004"

Back a couple ZOLE and ZOSE updates ago, the assembly patches would cause the game to randomly crash and the beta for OoN was released before they were fixed. Use save states.Title: Re: Zelda Oracle of Nature (By Me and Fatories) - Demo Released (Updated 7/24/11) Post by: LimeMaster92 on November 24, 2012, 10:41:58 PM Oops sorry about that :(
Title: Re: Zelda Oracle of Nature (By Me and Fatories) - Demo Released (Updated 7/24/11) Post by: Mariofan5000 on February 04, 2014, 07:52:26 PM May I help with the overworld map? I've kinda edited the overworld to fix some inconsistencies before and after events, as well made some "stopping screens" to disallow Link from traveling out of bounds into the remains of Labrynna. ;) Maps are in the attachments.

While the offer and help is appreciated, this project has long since died. We aren't working on it anymore and don't have plans to resume it in the future. Sorry. The announcement for it was kind of hidden. So with all that to read, I give you news regarding Fatories's and my hack, Oracle of Nature. It's dead. For good. It's not completely because we don't want to work on it, but the path we took after level 3 was disastrous and we don't like it. We also did a poor job with the overworld and could make a significantly better hack now. The dungeons are all really cool still though, so we might still use those if we ever make another hack. Title: Re: Zelda Oracle of Nature (By Me and Fatories) - Demo Released (Updated 7/24/11) Post by: Mariofan5000 on February 04, 2014, 08:21:43 PM That's really bad, because I see a lot of potential in this hack. :(
Title: Re: Zelda Oracle of Nature (By Me and Fatories) - Demo Released (Updated 7/24/11) Post by: Lin on February 04, 2014, 08:29:06 PM Well, it has a lot of flaws. For starters, it's way too difficult. There were some pretty terrible design choices. Second, it uses all old ZOLE stuff so down the line it would become harder to work with. Third, we don't like the overworld. Fourth, our skills regarding assembly and programming have greatly improved. We could do everything a lot better.

For starters, it's way too difficult. I've noticed. I actually had to use a cheat code to deal with Boss 3. :(There were some pretty terrible design choices. Second, it uses all old ZOLE stuff so down the line it would become harder to work with. Guess I understand.Third, we don't like the overworld. I actually kinda like it. :PFourth, our skills regarding assembly and programming have greatly improved. We could do everything a lot better. That's always a +. |
