I've always wanted to modify this game but all the tools seem to be for DOS or Mac.

Perhaps someone could undertake the task of making a Zelda II editor for Windows?

Isn't it for GameBoy? If so, I should have no trouble at all with it. The only problem is I've never actually played it...

EDIT: Wait, I got it confused with Metroid II. Nevermind, I know nothing of the NES.

You know there are a lot of tutorials for hacking NES games with Zelda II as the practice game and just hacking NES games in general. So you wouldn't really need an editor, although it would make it a lot easier.

Well would it be possible for someone to port the DOS and Mac tools to Windows? I know nothing about porting tools but it'd be real helpful.

I'm pretty sure Windows 32-bit and 64-bit have the capability of running 16-bit applications, and if not, try running in compatibility mode for XX.

Tried both and it just exited out of the program. I'm using Vista and it looks like compatability mode won't work with DOS programs.

You wouldn't happen to know any Mac to PC conversion software that is freeware, would you?

Well, a Google Search brought me to an MSDN discussion saying Vista does not support 16-bit applications. Your options are using VirtualPC, but I think that's pretty much it. I'm not sure which operating systems run 16 bit apps, but I do know Windows 9x does for sure. I use XP and I know I've ran a pure DOS app, but I'm not sure if it was 16-bit or not.

Well I've looked around for the many tutorials on the internet about NES hacking and they all seem to be about Palette hacking, Tileset changing, and Text hacking. The simple stuff.

I want to learn how to edit monsters in battle so I could have the player fight Dreadhawks early or something.
