Oracles Hacking / ZOLE / Re: ZOLE 4 Version 1.26 Released!

Version 1.26. Update log from ReadMe: Fixed the random map garbage tiles and crash assembly bugs, added Fatories's well-deserved spot to the Credits menu, and changed the "Unknown" value in the Warp Editor to "Entry". ZOLE 4 now requires GBHL 1.1, which all tools but ZOTE run off of (ZOTE still requires the original DLL in its directory). Oh, and make sure you click the "Re-apply ASM patches" in ZOLE, save, and do the same thing in ZOSE afterwards. Also be sure to back up your ROM in case something goes bad

I figured I might as well be the one to point this out - your mapping is full of errors. Not that's it's serious or anything, but a lot of the grass and tree tiles don't connect like they should. Not a big deal, just thought I'd mention it Anyway, my guess is you're using an area ID that swaps maps and the flags in the room just happen to be bad. Look at the Underwater Present and make the map data/area ID the same and see what happens. And don't worry about the topics. It's better for there to be a lot to easily separate questions that have already been asked. Oh, and you don't arrange overworld maps. The maps are just indexed and aren't like dungeons.

Oracles Hacking / Help / Re: ZOCF Crashing

Download ZOTE and take the GBHL.dll file out of it and put it in a separate folder with ZOCF. ZOCF needs a ROM in the same folder as it to start up (unless you drag a ROM into it). This will be fixed in the future.
The reason being is ZOLE Live required a new build of the GBHL.dll file and only ZOLE Live and ZOLE 4 were distributed with this new version and ZOCF/ZOTE/ZOSE (for now) require the older one. There is no visible way to tell which is which, even with the version number.

Better news! I fixed it so all interactions besides (and including) type 72 can use all jump3byte commands. This means all issues in Oracles hacking are fixed! No more crashes, unknown opcodes, tile errors, or ZOSE bugs! Hooray! Update coming tomorrow!

Great news! After roughly 6 hours of trying to fix the bug where tiles on a map appear like garbage at random times and re-entering the map fixes them (poor sentence) is now fixed! My motivation to work on ZOLE has gone up immensely as that was probably the biggest reason of not wanting to! Let's hope ZOSE's fixes go well!

I am going to work on ZOLE/ZOSE primarily to fix the crashes and room errors. Hopefully ZOLE 1.26 should be out today, with room fixes/crashes (I believe the crashes are linked with the tileset loading). The ZOSE update will allow the custom jump commands to be used by all interactions - not just 72 ones.

Uh.... this would be helpful, unfortunately I have no idea how to do... what you just said, seeing as how ZOSE crashes my game (Probably because I dont know how to use it) and I don't...speak ZOSE code. I am but a kid, ZOLE is easy to use, all I do is find a tile I want, then I click down on it. Easy to use, and ZOCF is even easier when you know how to use it. Please translate into Noob talk?
Your ZOLE and ZOSE versions might not match. That's important. And you're but a kid? I'm 16. I made ZOLE when I was 15 It really is not hard. You need to actually think hard and follow the instructions listed above. Surely you can do even the most basic algebra which is plugging in a variable.

I'm just curious about who still uses it. I might bring up work on it and other ZOxx tools if it's still highly used.

The dungeons have a good, fun design. In the third dungeon in the room with two of the rotating things, the one closer to the top of the room doesn't work, it's just the tiles on the floor.
This sounds like an intended puzzle that Lin and I did for level 3. The top turnstile isn't activated until you do something specific later in the dungeon. Ohhhhhh, he meant the turntile. I thought he was talking about a room next to the one above the turntiles room. Yeah, that's intended. You have to fix the other turntile.

OK, that makes sense. Could you please... explain it a bit more? I've actually gotten some practice with this stuff since I've been gone (in another video game, however), so I should be able to comprehend ~70% of it.
Also, how would you find the title graphics using Tile Layer Pro and VBA? I'm looking at the offsets VBA's Tile Viewer gives me, but I'm not seeing any correlation.
You would do a jump3bytemc with the memory address being C6BF and the value being: 1 Essence = 01 2 Essences = 03 3 Essences = 07 4 Essences = 0F 5 Essences = 0x1F 6 Essences = 0x3F 7 Essences = 0x7F 8 Essences = 0xFF

At the top of my head I don't know what you're talking about. Maybe you have an older demo or something, because it was fine when Fatories ran through it. Also, join the IRC: #ZOLE at irc.caffie.net

Is there a check for essences that can be used in ZOSE? I think it'd be cool to be able to open new areas depending on how many essences you have.
Not directly, but with the use of memory checks and jumps, you can easily use the value at the essence address.
