46  Oracles Hacking / Help / Re: How to add regular people to overworld in Ages? on: December 03, 2013, 10:12:15 PM
Luckily, the almost-latest version of ZOLE and all my tools are on romhacking.net. It's version 1.26, so if you have the latest version of ZOLE you're good. It comes with ZOTE.zip, which contains GBHL.dll 1.0
47  Oracles Hacking / Help / Re: How to add regular people to overworld in Ages? on: December 03, 2013, 03:49:19 AM
Oh. It's because ZOTE uses GBHL.DLL version 1.0, while ZOTE and ZOSE use version 1.1. It's a big flaw with the way the tools were released. Just make sure when you download ZOTE, you extract it and the GBHL.DLL file into its own folder. Sorry about that. ZOHS doesn't require any DLLs Tongue

Hmm... You should be able to save without any issues. Can you paste the message and stack trace that comes along with it? The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is maybe another program has the ROM open and won't let you save until it's closed. I'm not sure though until you post the full error information.

Fun fact - zeldahacking.ulmb.com is actually this site - zeldahacking.net. For all .ulmb.com links, change that to .net/forum and you should end up in the right place. I ended up switching webhosts from unlimitedmb to Godaddy and purchasing a domain. Sorry for the confusion.

Unfortunately, this is not an easy task. The only thing I can really tell you to do, since this is what Fatories and I did in Nature, is take an NPC that was in the original game, find their text using ZOTE, and just edit that. ZOSE has a rarely-working script finder for interactions, so if you're lucky you can use that to display and edit the NPC's script.

The good news is the Zelda Oracles Hacking Suite (aka ZOLE 6) is making good progress and will have macros to make things like this possible and easy. I hope you choose to stick around long enough to see it in action. In the mean time, if you have any further questions or want hands-on help, visit the IRC channel at irc.caffie.net #ZOLE

Interesting. Quite coincidental you posted this because I've been debating starting a linked Ages let's playing without beating Seasons first. Thanks for this.

52  Oracles Hacking / Zelda Oracles Hacking Suite / Re: To-Do List [Beta 0.04] on: November 21, 2013, 04:54:39 AM
I've picked this project up again and have written the map-loading assembly for Ages. The code is much faster and doesn't require decompressing all the maps upon startup. Also the code required is much smaller.
53  The Site / Announcements / Primary Zelda Hacking Press! on: November 20, 2013, 08:13:33 PM
There is a new part of the website, the Press! You can find it at www.zeldahacking.net/press. There is where I'll be publishing posts related to the progress of ZOHS, the site, my experiences with hacking the Oracles, and more! It's meant to replicate the outlet the old blog gave me and hopefully spark some life into this community. I hope to see you there!

54  Oracles Hacking / Zelda Oracles Hacking Suite / Re: To-Do List [Beta 0.04] on: July 19, 2013, 06:00:19 PM
How's the project now? It's been a couple of weeks.
I started college about 2 weeks ago and it's not that I haven't had free time - in fact I've had plenty - but I'm trying to learn C++ so I can stop using C#. I've also got so many other things I want to work on, like improving my assembler since I have the source code for it again, and other things like making a disassembly of one of the oracles. Of course, that's a very long and agonizing process, so I don't see it happening. My current focus is to learn C++ and study for college as much as possible.

I'm also struggling to find motivation for this. I've tried playing both oracles games but they feel very boring and forced. It doesn't seem like very many people are too interested in the project either. I'm sure I'll pick it up again soon though, since the very thought of working on an oracles hack gets me excited. I'll try to finish beta 0.04 when I can because it's going to be the most difficult update for a while.
55  Link's Awakening Hacking / Help / Re: Glitched sprites even with correct bank on: July 17, 2013, 04:17:37 PM
Fatories made a video explaining this. It's not a glitch. For some reason, the game won't always load a new spriteset value you have set. This is evident by going left of the first room in level 1 and clipping through the wall to go up. The moldorm will be messed up, even though the spriteset value is properly set. The same effect can be seen with palettes.
56  Link's Awakening Hacking / Help / Re: Problem with the Start Position Editor on: July 05, 2013, 08:30:44 PM
It sounds like you're using the wrong ROM. Make sure it's a "Legend of Zelda, The - Link's Awakening DX (U) (V1.2) [C][!]" ROM, which is specified in the readme.

Awesome! My fruit is peaches and I also have some cherries. I got bananas from somewhere (I don't wanna spoil anything) but they don't sell for much since they're gettable in any town. We'll have to visit each other's towns to share fruit Smiley
59  Oracles Hacking / Beta Releases / Re: Beta 0.03 on: June 19, 2013, 10:57:59 PM
I'm not home so I can't test anything, but I guarantee all of the map errors you found were because you opened a 4mb zole-patched ROM. ZOHS only works with fresh roms. The only real bugs here are the editing without a selected map, which I knew about. I haven't implemented protection against these sort of things in all areas yet, so I think an hour and 20 minutes of your time sort of went down the drain... >_> I really do appreciate it though and if you want to test more feel free to do so in the future releases.

EDIT: Yeah, everything loads fine for me on an untouched ROM. It's a problem on your side, and like I said you're probably using a ZOLE-patched ROM because it creates those errors.
