Title: The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Magic Post by: Gamma 31 on August 05, 2010, 02:28:53 PM Alright. I've decided not to go through with my original idea, and instead have dcided to make use of the double world system in a new way. Here goes:
Veran, Sorceress of Shadows, kidnaps Farore, Oracle of Magic. Using her powers, Veran enters the sacred Realm of Three Sisters (Identified as in the sky by the outermost screens barring the BT's sky and wall tiles) and does... something. I don't know what yet. It's up to you, the player, to travel between the Realm of the Three Sisters (ruled by Nayru, Oracle of Ages, Din, Oracle of Seasons, and Ambi, Queen of Realms) and Kiroma (ruled by President Michele, the Joke Man's Girlfriend's sprite) to find and recover the Essences of Magic and defeat Veran. The main entrance to the Realm of Three Sisters is on top of the Maku Tree, but there are portals that can be opened to the realm to reach other places (as all areas in the RoTS are blocked off from each other). Names might change if I get some inspiration. Any suggestions on side quests, place names, ect. would be helpful! Title: Re: Title Pending Post by: Jigglysaint on August 05, 2010, 04:08:57 PM Most of that stuff would need to be done by hand in a hex editor. Having said that, yes it is possible, but you would need to familiarize yourself with Z80 ASM, find the code you wish to change, and make the changes.
Title: Re: Title Pending Post by: fauxrage on August 06, 2010, 04:38:17 PM Well the dungeons all depend on what the game's appearance is. If the game's appearance is similar to an Oracles than your dungeons have to look simple roomed and more of a track like appearance where the same room is not revisited TOO often.
Or you could give it your own look where you try something that has not been seen in an oracles game. That would be for you to invent so I can't tell you too much. :001_tongue: If you take this approach, try not to make the rooms on the same floor without switching map floors. Take the initiative to have a lot of up and down using stairways and such. Its all up to you. I personally like my dungeons to be excessively complex but not having to revisit the same room a billion times just to turn the stupid turntable to get to the final boss. :) Either way... I look forward to your hack, even if you don't find success in the storyline programming or the interactions or anything. I like your idea, and the map pics you posted so far. :D Title: Re: Title Pending Post by: fauxrage on August 06, 2010, 07:37:40 PM I'm GUESSING that would be an ASM event but I have like ZERO haxor skills so dont trust me. :P
