I fixed your bold tags. Nice guide.
183  Oracles Hacking / Tools / Re: Zelda Oracles Text Editor [Updated to 1.01] on: July 07, 2011, 04:54:57 AM
Input tags. Other than that I really don't know.

185  Oracles Hacking / ZOLE / Re: ZOLE 4 Version 1.24 Released! on: July 05, 2011, 11:49:16 PM
Version 1.24. Update log from ReadMe:

Added dungeon minimap editing. Also a few other minor changes.

Note: You need to update the GBHL.DLL file you use with the one I included in the zip. Without it ZOLE will not function properly. However, use the old GBHL.DLL file for all the other tools.
186  Oracles Hacking / Help / Re: Some item help. on: July 05, 2011, 10:17:26 PM
No, but whatever ID they are I'd imagine they'd be the same coming out of a chest as they would be in the RAM. The only item like that I know is the graveyard key because I looked for it, but other than that, no, sorry.
187  General GameBoy Hacking / General GameBoy Talk / Re: Least Favorite Area/Dungeon/etc in Ages on: July 03, 2011, 12:48:47 AM
I personally loved Crescent Island and level 3 itself. It might have been the music in the dungeon because I just remember loving it.

The main thing that really makes me want to play Seasons instead of Ages is that in Seasons, the game doesn't get really annoying after level 5. You don't have to do a bunch of side quests and then go through hell trying to get to level 7, only to have level 7 be even worse. It just wasn't fun.
188  Oracles Hacking / Opinions and Experiments / Re: Ages Expanded, a future hack by Klavice on: July 03, 2011, 12:45:36 AM
Actually, using ZOLE Live makes it less possible, because you can't edit everything you can using regular ZOLE. ZOLE Live was mainly designed for creating maps and doing basic things, like editing warps and interactions, but even interactions have shown to not be perfect and create sync issues. I can guarantee right now that you won't have Ralph following you. It'd be too much assembly work.

Keep in mind that for every single NPC that only appears in a linked game, you're going to have to edit assembly for it. The only scripts they have are the ones that make them talk when you press A on them. Making them appear is completely assembly-sided.

Yeah. Just search the palette values in a hex editor and you'll find em for sure. Palettes aren't compressed in any GBC games I've seen.

To do that, in the VBA palette viewer, get the bytes of the row you want. When you click on the first color you'll see something like "Value: 0x7FFF", so in a hex editor, you'd start with FF 7F, then the next color would be something like "Value: 0x7ED9" so after the FF 7F you'd add D9 7E, totaling up to FF 7F D9 7E. Do that for the next two colors and search. But, the colors are 16-bit (Really 15-bit because the 015th bit doesn't matter). However, don't bother because I really doubt you know how to convert 24-bit colors into 16-bit colors and it's going to end up as a mess due to shared palettes.
190  Oracles Hacking / Ideas / Re: Ideas, I need ideas! on: June 20, 2011, 11:04:27 PM
Do a themed dungeon. Fatories and I have themes planned out for all eight of ours, and one of my favorite is the ice/snow dungeon which is yet to be created. So go with that because a pure icy/snowy dungeon would be freaking awesome. Water dungeons are always great as well if done right.

New build. Important bugfix. Very usable, except the palette editor when canceled.
192  Oracles Hacking / Discussion / How the Intro 'Talk-to-all-NPCs' Works on: June 08, 2011, 09:02:37 AM
I was checking out the script home to NPC 3C00 (The NPC in the intro who says "Shhh! I can't hear Nayru sing!") and I noticed he ORs CFDE by 04. What this does is sets it so you've talked to this specific NPC, and once you talk to all of them CFDE should equal a certain value. Why CFDE? It's out of the viewable map data, so it won't get changed when loading another map but also won't get saved when you exit the game.

Pretty cool and I just decided to share.

193  Oracles Hacking / Tutorials / How to Make Maps Swap With Underwater Maps (Like Symmetry Village) on: June 07, 2011, 10:37:08 PM
Well, Fatories and I needed this for our hack but I didn't actually know how to do it. So, after looking into it, as long as bit 0 is set in the room's flag, it will use 02 or 03 for the map group, depending on what map group you're on. So how could you do this via script? Simple.

Code:
setroomflag 01

Or you could make events in the past change the ones in the present by using my custom command setroomflago. Very easy and very powerful. Note this can indeed be used for single-tile changes because ZOLE doesn't support any tile changes (Except for map scripts). Note that the tileset must be different in the original room or you'll be using the original tileset with a different palette until you press the start menu.

Edit: I found out in order for the map to properly swap, a value must be unset and another value must be set. First off, the 6th byte in the area data must be 00 in the unswapped one. In the swapped one, it must be 01. So, what does that mean? You're gonna need a hex editor and to do a little math.

For the unswapped one: Go to address 10FBC + [unswapped area ID * 8] + 6 and make sure the byte is 0.
For the swapped one: Go to address 10FBC + [swapped area ID * 8] + 6 and make sure the byte is 1.

This means you have to use two different area IDs. Have fun.

New build. Minimal testing so don't expect it to be perfect.
195  Oracles Hacking / Projects / Re: Zelda Oracle of Ages Hack (By Me and Fatories) on: June 05, 2011, 10:16:04 AM
We finished level 2. I put up a video of me playing level 2, and Fatories can edit the topic when he puts his up.
