This looks amazing, as always, even under the BigT deadline. Great job!
Comments: File > Export HUGE png (lol) Are the numbers in the hex editor supposed to be that gray? I can barely see them...

Oracles Hacking / Help / Static Objects
|

Lin, you probably eventually saw this question coming Okay, hopefully this will be one of the last things I need to know, even though I probably said that in the last post, too. Static objects are dungeon-only, stay where they are until you leave the dungeon, etc. Correct me if I'm wrong: they work kinda like interactions with the index basically being the identifier of the object (you know what I'm trying to say). I know the map, X, and Y values of them. But I was taking a look around in the Nature demo you sent me (the primary reasons I wanted Nature were so I could get some motivation for my own hack, and so I could check what you did with some interactions and scripts so I could figure some things out on my own without asking so many questions here) and I was looking at the first floor on Level 2. I noticed that the same three static objects were in every room here in the same location, showing as red boxes. Why is this? I'm assuming they only get interacted with in one room (makes sense). In some rooms, there are objects marked as green boxes. These seem to only appear in one room. Besides that, what's the difference between the two colors? Finally, could you give a basic tutorial on how to add one? The things I basically don't know are the object factor, unknown (obviously, no pun intended), and ID. Well, I know that the ID is the actual object, but what are IDs of common static objects, like the colored block and mine cart, and what are some other static objects commonly used in dungeons? BTW, Nature is amazing, if I haven't already mentioned that in the IRC. Besides getting enjoyment out of playing the hack, I've found out a few things about ZOSE and hacking I didn't know before just by example, like getting the arrow shooters on the wall to actually shoot arrows. I'm sure I'll figure out a lot more too. Awesome hack and thanks for it! Too bad it'll never be finished

I'm gonna add some stuff here, and I will update this from time to time as I discover stuff. In areas where there are pushable blocks or stones (in caves and dungeons), there are usually six of those objects in a row. In Area ID 54, for example, starting at Tile 18 in the tile selector, the order goes like this (reading from left to right):
1. Pushable up only. 2. Pushable right only. 3. Pushable down only. 4. Pushable left only. 5. Pushable in all directions. 6. Stationary (not pushable).

I'm gonna add some values for some more items that worked for me as I was fooling around with chest IDs and ZOCF. Most of these require ZOCF to fix freeze issues. I'll update this post if I discover any other values that aren't mentioned in Lin's post above. Hopefully these will help.
(Yes, these are basically the Weapon IDs already mentioned in the Weapon List here, but I just put the chest IDs here for beginners anyway.)
0100 Shield (0100 = Level 1, 0101 = Level 2, etc.) 0300 Bombs (10) 0400 Cane of Somaria 0500 Sword (0500 = Level 1, 0501 = Level 2, etc.) 0600 Boomerang 0A00 Switch Hook (0A00 = Level 1, 0A01 = Level 2) 0C00 BigGoron Sword 0D00 Bombchus (10) 0E00 Strange Flute 0F00 Seed Shooter - Don't give to player until they have obtained the Seed Satchel! 1100 Harp of Ages 1500 Shovel 1600 Power Bracelet (1600 = Level 1, 1601 = Level 2, etc.) 1700 Roc's Feather 1900 Seed Satchel (Includes 20 Ember Seeds) 20XX Depending on value of XX, 4 Ember Seeds or Gasha Seed 25XX Harp of Ages (Value of XX determines what tune is included.)

I asked about 50 questions here, now I'm gonna contribute something. Unfortunately, it's unrelated to Zelda hacking because I have no idea how to code in C# or C++. This is a game I whipped up entirely in Visual Basic forever ago. It's basically the score of me going through many files in my PC. I can't even read the code I typed. It's pretty bad. The rules: Try to get as close to 21 as you can in each of the 5 piles, but don't go over. You have 3 passes if the randomly-generated number isn't what you want. If you're out of passes and you can't do anything else without going over 21, you must take your score. Bottom line: if you're bored out of your mind, knock yourself out. Note that it probably won't look too good if you don't have the font "DS DIGITAL" installed in your PC. http://www.dafont.com/ds-digital.fontLittle trailer / gameplay video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9t9Aatfumg-BigT

Oracles Hacking / Help / Re: Many questions about ZOSE...

And just for the record, I read the rules ( http://zeldahacking.net/forum/index.php?topic=243.0), where it mentions about being "spoonfed" information, and I realized that I might be appearing that way with the post above. I have tried some of these things I mentioned, but I just can't figure them out. I don't want to attempt some stuff, cause I'd be afraid I would enter a "wrong" value and mess up the entire hack I've been working on for a while. Better to be safe then sorry. If I'm coming off as being rude, offensive, or just plain too curious, I apologize in advance. Just wanted to mention that. I wish you guys all the best : )

Oracles Hacking / Help / Many questions about ZOSE...

This is basically a list of the rest of the things I don't quite understand. When I get these down, hopefully I'll actually be able to progress in my hack on my own somewhat.
1. Is there a command to send Link to a different map and at a specified location? I'm assuming I can set CC30, CC2D, D00B, and D00D to the proper values but does this work? 2. What does SetVisible, Set45 and Set49 do? So in other words, what is an interaction's Dx44, Dx45 and Dx49 value and what are some common settings for it? 3. Difference between "PlaySound" and "SetMusic"? 4. What is SetCC8A useful for? Would SetMemory CC8A ## do the same thing? 5. Is there a way to check if Link has a certain item without that item being set to a button? It's not that useful if I check if Link has a sword set to B, but he has it set to A (the script won't activate). 6. What's a cycle, like in memory address C622? 7. So if I want the script to wait until a wall lever is pulled out all the way, would I use CheckMemory CCAB 7? 8. For D00B and D00D, what is the max value for it (to get Link centered on the lower-right tile)? What about in bigger dungeon rooms? 9. What is ShowTextIDJP used for? 10. Difference between ShowText and ShowLoadedText? 11. I'm assuming SetTextID's Value 1 and Value 2 range from 00-FF? 12. Do mini-bosses and normal bosses both use Interaction type 4? Would you happen to know what some of the IDs are to get those bosses to appear? 13. What would CheckLinkXToMA be useful for? 14. In the ZOSE.html file, what do you mean when you say "ANDs" or "ORs", like in CheckRoomFlag and SetRoomFlag? 15. What is SetInteractionFactor useful for? Similarly with AddSetInteractionFactor? 16. What is ASM15 useful for? 17. How many posts do I need to reach or time that I need to be signed up for my "newcomer" title to go away?
Merci beaucoup for answering all of these. I've needed these clarified for a long time so I can learn what they do. Hopefully this will save anyone else from having these questions and asking them again on here.

I can prove to you how much I don't follow hockey by asking, "What's rough about it?". lol Those are just my 3 favorite teams to play as on EA games. I don't even have a reason for playing them; I pretty much just chose them out of a hat. I think I watched one half of a hockey game in my life. I remember nothing about it or when I watched it. I just noticed you're currently at 555 posts. Good job Lin

Aw, I feel bad that no one replied to this.
I don't watch much hockey, but I always used to try the EA games on the GameCube. I enjoyed playing as the Buffalo Sabers, Philly Flyers, or the Saint Louis Blues.
