346  Oracles Hacking / Help / Re: Transfering Tiles on: November 26, 2010, 01:54:35 AM
How can you find out the address for each map?
ZOLE displays it on the bottom. The map data is the uncompressed data however, not the original compressed data.

Got another error with the same script, only this time with three 'setcoords' commands for the enemies: "fc at 402c."
I think it's just a general script problem if not the 3 byte pointer jump.
347  Oracles Hacking / Help / Re: Transfering Tiles on: November 26, 2010, 12:50:54 AM
Yea, that's been an error everyone has gotten. It's hard to repeat and no real cause for it. I'm not sure how to fix but all I can hope is to get a lot of user reports and have them all lead to somewhere.

What were you doing when the bug happened? Just entered the room and bam? If so, post your script.
348  Oracles Hacking / Help / Re: Minibosses on: November 25, 2010, 10:10:31 PM
There are no scripts when dealing with bosses, except for the doors working and things that get created which include heart containers, fairies, and the miniboss portal. The bosses get spawned by one of the green interactions. The other green interaction which is usually around 46 forces Link to walk up. However, you need both interactions to make it work properly.

So basically, the minibosses are loaded probably from some other data table in the ROM. I haven't looked into them.

Doesn't stop those really annoying ones that appear over the page. Also, I primarily use Chrome.
Yes it does. I use it and don't get a single ad.

Also, contest started. I'll update the competitors list once I stop being lazy.

Odd. What maps and map groups?
351  Oracles Hacking / Help / Re: Transfering Tiles on: November 24, 2010, 01:50:22 AM
If the cliff edges are randomly placed there, then it has to do with some table of data that places tiles that ZOLE doesn't edit yet.

I'm not sure. I noticed that a lot of times in-game, going into the area with the guy who gives the island map will mess up the tileset sometimes. I'm not sure why. I guess either change the area id if you can, and if not, then make sure to try it without save states.

Yes.
354  The Site / Announcements / Re: Attention - Contest Coming Soon on: November 23, 2010, 10:06:24 PM
Probably not. While I understand the basics of making a dungeon, I have no idea how to script.
Remember ZOSE comes with documentation, and it says at least one script. This can mean any script, whether it just be one line or anything. Surely you can do that.

I have no idea how to script.
Drag and drop modular should make it easer, and has not been made, aka a zose alternative or improvement.
Are you going to be joining?

I would like to officially sign up.
Sweet.

I hardly have time anymore to do stuff.  I'd love to, but to be honest, I'd rather do it for fun.  Besides, shouldn't I be banned seeing as how I am the only one with highly advanced understanding of the rom?
Nah, because that can only get you points in creativity and maybe puzzles. You still have to be able to map and create a decent-length hack.

I guess I'll enter. No harm in doing so, right?
Cool.

Cool! Once I get this ton of homework done, I'll be sure to look into competing.
Awesome. Just let me know for sure when you will.

This sounds really great Lin.   I hope that it gets a big turnout.
Me too. Are you going to enter?
356  The Site / Announcements / Contest: 09/12/2010 on: November 22, 2010, 05:31:25 AM
The contest is now over

Round up your tools and get practicing! An event planned for around a month is going to arise soon. Basically, a contest will be held starting this week on Thanksgiving November 25th!

You must sign up to compete, and you can sign up at any time, but you must submit your hack before the deadline, which is December 9th, 2010! To sign up, just post below you want to be in the contest.

Requirements to Compete
-Hack must be at least 1 dungeon long and feature somewhat of an overworld. More dungeons will increase your chance of winning.
-Hack must use at least one custom script

So, pretty straight-forward. The reward is undecided, but you will for sure get a title if you win. Although it probably isn't needed, this is indeed a hack of ages. You are free to use ZOLE, ZOSE, and any other tool you would like. Just don't copy work, and you must work on your own.

Things You'll Be Judged On
-Creativity - How cool and original are your events?
-Mapping - All of your maps follow how the maps were meant to be made, and they look good
-Puzzles - An enemy-killed and key dungeon would be very boring
-Length - Is your hack long and does it feature more than five minutes of gameplay?

Each category will be given 5 points, and the person with the biggest total wins. A tie will result in a public pole. A tie in that... well, we'll just have to see then won't we?

Currently Competing
No contestants.

Note that any bugs found in ZOLE, ZOSE, or any other of my tools will will add a certain amount of days to the due date depending on how long it took to fix. For example, if a bug was found and took two days to fix, two days will be added to the due date.

I look forward to your hacks!

357  Oracles Hacking / Help / Re: 'Showtext' on: November 16, 2010, 02:14:45 PM
Hmm... I've gotten that error before but it's probably the most common one. My guess is it's an interrupt bug and I have to write some past values for when the interrupt cycle occurs and finishes. Who knows though.
358  Oracles Hacking / Help / Re: 'Showtext' on: November 14, 2010, 03:41:51 AM
I honestly have NO idea. I guess I assumed people would insert random values, check what the text is, find that text in ZOTE, and work from there. Eventually (eventually) I'll get around to it.

And as for the bug thing, I'm not sure. You are writing it as "spawncommon 4D 00 yy xx" correct?
359  Oracles Hacking / Scripts / Re: Hooded Stalfos Overworld Miniboss on: November 14, 2010, 02:10:40 AM
It would be great if you could tell me the unknown opcode error message. I, as well as others, have gotten that. Few reports on the actual detail of the message like the opcode and location have been reported though.

Cool script by the way. Every time you compile your ROM with ZOSE and you have ZOLE open, you need to re-open it in ZOLE (or ZOSE). This is even stated in the FAQ topic for ZOLE. As for the boss, I'm not sure. I haven't messed with those.
