Hi there. Because of recent Seasons support, I decided I wanted to make a "Master Quest" version of Seasons, but seeing how many issues ZOLE brought with keeping original content, I decided to do something a little different.

The name Soul Tower is actually the name of the tower you will be playing through throughout the entire hack. There is no story, there is no adventuring, and there is no overworld travel. You start on one screen and to your North is a tower, and in this tower contains 9 floors - 8 for each of the dungeons and 1 for the final battle. Each floor will have its own miniature dungeon, each giving you the corresponding weapon, showing the correct tileset, and having you face the same boss. It will offer tougher challenges and be focused more on making the player think.

I'm looking forward to play this and it doesn't seem like it would take a long time, seeing how I don't have to focus on new scripts, a plot, text, or the overworld. Hopefully the outcome will be really cool. I'll post some screenshots when I have some worthy of showing.

Oh, and each floor finished I'll be releasing a demo/patch and making a video so you guys can stay up to date and get on my case about bugs inside the game.

Any ideas and criticism would be appreciated!

Thanks,

~Lin

This is great  but if I may suggest something, maybe only make a video for like the first floor and maybe like a video showing off a few things in the hack, or maybe just wait until after you release the hack and make them as a walk through. If you go through with this hack and make videos for each floor before releasing I know I'll have to watch them and I'll see what I have to do and then it wont be as fun when playing.

It's better with surprises than pictures or videos that spoil the gameplay.
I will beat it in visual boy advance before i watch it on youtube :001_tongue:
GameFaqs.com is a no go for games! because it removes the surprise feelings by saying what happens next and so on!
And same goes for youtube speedruns! Angry

Actually, I just thought of the same idea today, except it would be more like a cave.  One thing that Seasons has, that would certainly make a superdungeon like this possible, is that it contains an interaction similar to 12 00 that displays the dungeon name, but it works for stairs.  A tower would be good, but I think a cave would make more sense since it's kind of strange to have a water dungeon about 4 floors up.

I'm also thinking too that the dungeons need not nessicarily be all "one dungeon per floor".  I wager it's possible to have multiple dungeons on one standard dungeon floor.  How about a tower, but there are dungeons above and below it.  Water dungeons(as well as other liquid based dungeons), could be below the tower, while the rest could be above.  Remember that just level 6 alone was actually quite tall for a dungeon.  Of course dungeons are limited as to how many floors they can have, but it could work.

Also, you can configure the portal warps to warp to different levels, though it can't cross map groups.  That means it could be possible to have warps from the bottom of the tower, to the top, or anywhere almost.  I would hope that a megadungeon like this would require lots of backtracking and getting items in different orders.  I mean who's to say that you shouldn't walk into level 7 with only 3 hearts and a power bracelet.  You might not get far, but perhaps rewards for those who dare brave danges before their time are to be found.  Gasha seeds could be retooled into somthing, like perhaps dungeon indepenant keys or somthing.

Well, this is more of a mini-hack with short "dungeons" that offer lots of action and challenges. I like to think of this as a boss run with an additional challenge, and in this hack, there's one part where it's really hard to get past without taking ~2 hearts of damage, even though it's only the 4th room you visit in the first floor.

Cool, but don't be surprised if I somehow manage to "rip off" your concept at some point.  At least the multidungeon thing anyway.

Oh wow, this reminds me of Oracle of Kaizo. Speaking of which, I'm planning on working on Oracle hacks again soon. I've been a bit busy with life lately, but once I graduate I plan on finishing it.

Please make the puzzles really, really hard and numerous. And perhaps make the boss fights more interesting? Such as floor traps in a couple of boss fights?

I'm going more for puzzles and running-back than toughness, although there is a point in the hack right now where you can't even get past it without getting hurt.
