This is a hack I've been working on while testing ZOLE. Basically, time has frozen and you will be switching from day to night. Currently I've created 10 overworld day maps, and 2 indoor/cave maps. You get the sword from the chest outside your house, the shield from the house (Which is hard to afford xD), and the seed satchel from under the shop. There are enemies in only two of the maps (Excluding the cave), but are pretty simple enemies. Here are the maps so far. Hopefully I should have the first dungeon started soon. ~Lin

Let me start off by saying that the maps look good, although I'm not sure if I like the idea of going between day and night because wouldn't that mean your just travelling on the same maps but in a darker setting? At least thats what I think of when you mean day and night. Also just my opinion, but don't you think it would be more fun (I guess you could call it that) if you made the player have to do something in order to get the sword rather then just walk outside and open a chest?
Seriously though, so far it looks really good, and I'd definitely play it.

Agreed. I don't understand the concept of going from light to dark, maybe you could explain? It would be cool if it has to do with more enemies on the map and that you can reach secret places when you are in the dark world, when you are in the light world you do not see those places. I really like to see this idea fleshed out more, Anyway the mapping work looks amazing so far keep up the work.

Well if we take a page from Oracle of Hours(a joke map done by somebody on vgmaps.com), there would be several events that are only active or suppressed during certain times. Things like tides, blooming flowers, people appearing and disappearing. The good news is that you could just copy and paste the map from present and past, and each have their own interactions set up. Puzzles would have to take advantage of elements such as the sun, moon, temperature changes, and visability. Maybe you can get some ideas from these maps: http://www.vgmaps.com/NewsArchives/April2008/index.htm#LegendOfZeldaOracleOfHours

The dungeons look kinda boring too, and the Sky map is a nightmare with all the portals. Plus, we would need to code in a spinner, which wouldn't go very well. And finally, those maps are definitely for a Seasons hack. Different palette for sure, but I wanted to copy the idea of the Oracle of Hours maps. Like Jigglysaint said, water subsides in the night, flowers close, etc...

Yeah that sounds cool, and to be honest I never even heard of Oracle of Hours until now.

Just an FYI for when and if you do make tides move throughout the "Time" of the game, tides are higher at night because the moon's gravity has a pull on the ocean. Kind of strange, but it's true.

Oh yea. I thought for some reason in OoH, the tide was lower at night. Thanks.

That map looks awesome, but I was wondering, how are you going to make the start act? Will you still have to meet Impa? How will you meet her, though? It's a little confusing considering you can't really change the events in-game.

Nah, you start off in a the top house and you get the sword in the chest next to it, and you're on your way. There's a patch to kill the need to meet Impa and stuff.

Wow, really? I'd like to know where you could get this patch, because I'm working on my own hack, and it's very unique because it has Farore in it (on of the 3 spiritual guardians of the world. As seen in Ocarina of Time), so I want to make the story act out different compared to Ages.

It's under the Patches menu in ZOLE. It's called "Remove Beginning Locks".

Well I see there hasn't been any activity for a while on here, so consider this a bump:
On the subject of actually doing something to get the sword, how about you live with your uncle, who says something like: going on a quest? My sword is in the basement". In the place of the chest is a staircase to the basement. Make the basement something like an intro dungeon like Hero Cave in Seasons or Maku Pass in Ages.
Sound good?

Hmm? A throwback to ALTTP? That sounds pretty good for a Oracles hack. In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing an Oracles hack that is a sequel to ALTTP.
