Should I put new problems in new threads or just start using the same thread for all the small problems I encounter, since the former would likely end up cluttering things? All I'm really doing right now is messing around, trying to learn the program.

I'm actually not totally sure this problem hasn't been addressed already:

This is on the present overworld, in the extra maps that start off being blank with a black X across them. I changed the value of "Area ID" for the one that's showing up glitched, and tried to make transitions to account for the palette change, but I don't think I properly understand how map transitions work. I must admit I'm not even sure what the "Area ID" value does other than alter the tileset. My first assumption was, since the tiles don't even match up, I must be going to a different map of the overworld and getting the wrong tileset somehow. But there doesn't seem to be one that even resembles that, and anyway I can't rearrange overworld maps. Also, it looks like I'm still in the same place because if I go south from the glitched map I return to the one that's supposed to be to the south of it, and similarly going west and then south takes me back to the first map, as it should.

Is there a way to fix this? And if not, how best to circumvent it?

I figured I might as well be the one to point this out - your mapping is full of errors. Not that's it's serious or anything, but a lot of the grass and tree tiles don't connect like they should. Not a big deal, just thought I'd mention it Tongue

Anyway, my guess is you're using an area ID that swaps maps and the flags in the room just happen to be bad. Look at the Underwater Present and make the map data/area ID the same and see what happens. And don't worry about the topics. It's better for there to be a lot to easily separate questions that have already been asked.

Oh, and you don't arrange overworld maps. The maps are just indexed and aren't like dungeons.

Thanks, now it all makes sense! Looks like it was on top of a fairy room, of all things.

Uh, is that a spam-bot or, uh...?
