:001_huh: Well its most definitely interesting, although im not sure if its in a good or bad way. I'll have to see more of your work before I judge it.

Honestly, it's not something that really grasps my feel of Zelda games. I'm not saying it looks bad, cause it doesn't but it doesnt really feel like a "Zelda" map.

Ahhh! Glorious day, in which I return to the ZOLE community. It's been quite a while Cheesy

Anyway, so I've been messing around with some of my old experiments that date back to ZOLE's beginning and I came across some maps I made and plans for an actual hack that I now plan on doing. I'll release those details at a later time, as for now I'd like to get your opinions on these set of maps I spent ever so long on (not).

-Well then, keep in mind that during the actual game the changes in the "dark" areas actually look fluent and presentable (IMO).

-Also I'm sure some of you may feel there is too much grass, but keep in mind I've done that in places because I want it to be semi realistic, because who the hell is going to mow the grass in a forest (yes I know its not grassy in a lot of forests, but in this one it is)?

-And don't forget that although some places may seem "empty", there may/may not be NPCs or various other things to fill them in.

-And finally, this, again, dates back a couple months so it's old and and has been untouched for ages (hahahaha see what I did there?  :crying: I know, I fail at life) and I already can see some things I'd like to fix.

172  Oracles Hacking / Help / Re: I'm still a little confused on chest editing on: July 06, 2010, 10:37:22 PM
...I type in Y and hit enter, which gives me a code at the bottom saying "0x38 Wrote to 0x594E6"
What exactly is 0x594E6? I didn't even get to choose a chest, what chest is that? Also then, where do X and Y come into this?
I'm really confused, I'm sorry if i"m just nor reading closely or something but any help will be awesome. Thanks.  :confused1:...
Thats just the memory or whatever that the thing is written to in the ROM. It doesn't matter what map or what chest you use, all the program does is prevent the ID from freezing when used in a chest. So just use any map you want and make the chest ID 500, and it should work.

175  General GameBoy Hacking / General GameBoy Talk / Re: What's your favorite GameBoy game? on: July 03, 2010, 08:45:52 PM
Hmm... Mines either Oracle of Ages or Wario Land 3. They were both just so fun, so it's hard to choose.
176  General GameBoy Hacking / General GameBoy Talk / Re: Tool request: Warioland 3 level and overworld editor on: July 02, 2010, 02:52:08 PM
I actually agree, this would be very cool to have. I love wario land 3 XD
177  Oracles Hacking / Help / Re: Switch Blocks? on: July 02, 2010, 12:02:48 AM
Apparently it doesn't work
178  Other / General Discussion / Re: Zelda II Hacking Tool for Windows? on: July 01, 2010, 01:39:54 PM
You know there are a lot of tutorials for hacking NES games with Zelda II as the practice game and just hacking NES games in general. So you wouldn't really need an editor, although it would make it a lot easier.
179  Oracles Hacking / Lists / Re: Rock/Bush/Tree/Gravestone List on: July 01, 2010, 01:30:05 PM
Thanks, I always wanted to know which was which, but I was to lazy to see.
180  Oracles Hacking / Opinions and Experiments / Rotating Platforms on: July 01, 2010, 05:05:49 AM
So I've spent like hours working with these things to get nowhere, so I just have to post a topic about these little pieces of shit.

Basically it works like this, to add one to your level you have to add a regular common interaction. Afterwards make the ID 7D00.

Now heres where these little shits start being all gimpy and not doing what you want. Basically the X position is supposed to change the direction that the platform rotates, an odd number being clockwise (left), while an even being counter-clockwise (right). But no! These turds decide that unless your editing the ones in levels 6 or 8 you can't actually change the direction. On top of that they don't reset to their default direction of rotating so if you die and have to restart, you may have screwed yourself over by not being able to go where you need to go.

The Y position on the other hand is just to actually position the damn thing, 57 being the center of the map.

So unless someone makes some sort of ASM script to change this, these things are just accidents waiting to happen.

PS. In case you don't understand, they work perfectly fine it is just that it will always start out right so your puzzles will have to work with that.
